Bridge Inspection on Cape Fear Memorial Bridge Next Week Requires Overnight Closures; Bridge will remain open during daylight hours

Motorists who travel on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge over the Cape Fear River on U.S. 17/76/421 need to be aware the bridge will be closed overnights next week, beginning Sunday night, Sept. 17.

The closures are needed so Department of Transportation crews can safely inspect the bridge cables and make repairs as needed.

“This annual inspection is essential for everyone who crosses this bridge,” said Bridge Maintenance Engineer Adam Britt. “We ask that drivers be patient during the closure.”

The closures will be in place from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night from Sunday, Sept. 17 through Friday morning, Sept. 22.
